Who We Are
Friends of Catholic Worker was organized to provide ongoing resources to the Des Moines Catholic Worker House in support of its mission of hospitality and serving the poor. Friends of Catholic Worker is a 501(c)3. Donations are tax deductible and are eligible to be treated as Qualified Charitable Distributions from IRAs for those over age 70 1/2. Friends of Catholic Worker is also eligible to receive grants from Donor Advised Funds.
One Meal At A Time
The Friends of The Catholic Worker are committed to helping the Des Moines Catholic Worker House in providing meals, clothing, and essentials.
- Food purchase which provides up to 500 meals per week.
- 25 thousand pounds of food pantry items distributed into the community annually.
- Feminine hygiene and toiletry products for hundreds of women and their families monthly.
- Hats, gloves, and blankets for cold winter months.
